The template is the same; the moment is everything. Here's what works in each trade, and what to say.

Plumbers, electricians, HVAC

WhereOn the invoice and the van

The job just got fixed; relief is the best moment to ask. A sticker on the van catches neighbors.

"Fixed? Great. If you've got a minute, a review on Google helps us more than anything."

Restaurants and cafés

WhereTable stand, by the register, on the receipt

Dessert and the bill are the two moments people linger. Staff mentioning the stand doubles scans.

"Enjoyed it? There's a QR on the table that goes straight to our Google reviews."

Salons and barbers

WhereMirror corner, checkout, the thank-you text

People photograph the result anyway; a code next to the mirror catches them with the phone already out.

"Love it? Scan the code and tell Google, it helps a small shop a lot."

Dentists, clinics, therapists

WhereCheckout desk and the appointment reminder text

Discreet placement matters; a small card handed over beats a sign. Never ask in the treatment room.

"If you were happy with your visit, a Google review would mean a lot to the team."

Retail

WhereBag insert and the counter

A card in the bag is read at home, when the purchase has been enjoyed.

"Thanks for shopping local. Scan to leave us a quick review."

Cleaners, landscapers, movers

WhereDoor hanger or final text with photos

The customer often isn't home at the end; a text with a photo of the finished work and the short link converts best.

"All done, photos attached. A quick review here would help us: [short link]"

Real estate agents

WhereClosing gift card and the final email

Closing day is emotional in the right direction. A card in the gift basket with the code works.

"Congratulations again. If you have a moment, a review helps future buyers find me."

Shuls, nonprofits, schools

WhereLobby sign and the newsletter

Reviews help community organizations show up on Maps for newcomers. Ask members, not donors, and ask once a year.

"New families find us on Google. If you're a member, a short review helps them find a home."

Questions

How many reviews should I expect?

Rough rule from businesses using placed codes: 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 scans becomes a review. A busy café can see 100 scans a week; a plumber maybe 10. Both add up.

Should I put it on the website too?

Yes, as a link (not a QR; nobody scans a screen). Use the same short link so the taps are counted.
